Savusavu fire service receives new ambulance

THE handing over a new ambulance to the National Fire Authority will better the ambulance services for the people of Savusavu on Vanua Levu.

Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister and Sugar Industry Yogesh Karan said the NFA played a crucial a role in the country’s fire and emergency management services.

“To the fire officers who will be manning this emergency service around the country, allow me to encourage you in saying that gratitude for the life that you save during the course of ambulance duty can never be expressed by mere words but the satisfaction that you get as the service provider will have an everlasting effect,” Mr Karan said at the handing over ceremony at the NFA headquarters in Suva today.

The NFA now has a total of nine ambulances nationwide.

Mr Karan said the Government had continued to assist ambulance service providers around the country with an operating grant of $1.6million under the 2018/19 national budget.
