VILIAME “the Stretcher” Satala treats the late Pita Dau as a true son of Lautoka after sacrificing his time for the district in football and rugby let alone representing the country.
Satala said he was in the Lautoka rugby development when the former dual international was one of the key players in the main Lautoka team.
He said Lautoka and Fiji had lost a great and a committed sportsman.
“Originally, Dau was from Naitasiri but he always gave his best while playing for Lautoka,” said Satala.
“He played his heart out for Lautoka be it in rugby or soccer.
“He is a great sports ambassador for Lautoka and for Fiji as a whole.”
Satala said Dau was a true warrior and never gave up despite facing bigger opponents.
“He is a real warrior and was someone the team could rely on when the tough gets going.
“He played well at fly half and at fullback and also kicked the ball equally well with both legs.”
Satala said he always shared his experience with the younger players and would be truly missed by his rugby and soccer teammates.
“He is a humble gentleman off the field and a warrior on the field.
“I was shocked to hear his untimely death and Lautoka was fortunate to have a talented player of Dau’s calibre.
“Although he will no longer be with us, his memories will always be cherished,” Satala said.
Dau played for Topline rugby in the Lautoka rugby competition.
