A BOREHOLE project commissioned early this week will provide clean and safe water for 3000 people in the tobacco-growing areas of Nadi and Sigatoka.
The initiative was funded by British American Tobacco (BAT) Fiji under a scheme called Project Aqua.
The commissioning of the borehole at Naveyago Village, Sigatoka, was lauded by Government as a good example of how private-public partnership benefited the people.
Chief guest at the event, Agriculture Minister Inia Seruiratu said the BAT project would ensure Fijians would have access to a basic necessity.
Naveyago borehole is the second under Project Aqua, two other Villages – Savalau in Nadi and Vunaqoru in Mavua – will be opened in the next few weeks.
