Rugby World Cup 7s: Men’s national side marches into camp

THE Fiji Airways national 7s team marched into camp today in preparation for the Rugby Sevens World Cup.

This was confirmed by team manager Jone Niurua but he failed to release the names of the players.

Head coach Gareth Baber said the side would train in Fiji for one week before selecting a 16-member team this weekend to prepare for two weeks in the United States.

Overseas-based players Semi Kunatani, Semi Radradra, Leone Nakarawa and Josua Tuisova are expected to force their way in the world cup team.

The likely 16-member team to make the cut include captain Jerry Tuwai, Jasa Veremalua, Josua Vakurunabuli, Kalioni Nasoko, Paula Dranisinukula, Sevuloni Mocenacagi, , Amenoni Nasilasila, Vatemo Ravouvou, Waisea Nacuqu, Eroni Sau, Alosio Naduva, Radradra, Tuisova, Nakarawa, Kunatani, (Mesulame Kunavula/Samisoni Viriviri).

Baber will select his final 12-member team after their two weeks training stint in the States.

Fiji has won the Melrose Cup in 1997 and 2005.

The World Cup will be held in San Francisco on July 20 to 22.
