Rt Inoke attends ministerial conference in Bali

MINISTER of Defence and National Security, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola is in Bali for the Seventh Ministerial Conference on the Bali Process on People Smuggling, Trafficking in Persons and Related Transnational Crime which begins today.

According to a Government statement, the Bali Process is a forum comprising of Ministers from the Asia Pacific region responsible for security to discuss Government initiatives and other efforts made to combat modern slavery, human trafficking and forced labour including pertinent transnational crime challenges confronting developing States.

“The Ministerial Conference will be attended by 45 member countries and three member organisations of the Bali Process, and a number of observing countries and organisations.

“The meeting is also a platform for holding bilateral talks on security cooperation amongst developed and developing countries.

“The Foreign Minister of Australia, Julie Bishop and Foreign Minister of Indonesia Retno Marsudi are co-chairs for the high level meeting,” the statement said.

Mr Kubuabola is accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Defence and National Security.

The meeting ends tomorrow (August 7).
