THE Rotary Club of Suva hosted another very successful Charity Golf Day last Friday to raise $30,000 at the Fiji Golf Club.

The tournament is the largest fundraising event of the Rotary Club of Suva. Proceeds from the one-day event will go towards assisting the victims of Cyclone Josie and Cyclone Keni.

Director of Charity Golf Event for Rotary Club of Suva, Kevin McCarthy, said the funds would also go towards replenishing the stocks of Emergency Response Kits, which were used to provide essential shelter and emergency supplies to those forced from their homes by the natural disasters.

“Despite concerns with the weather leading in to the event, we had fine conditions for the event with over 100 golfers taking part,” McCarthy said.

“This was despite competing golf tournaments in the West and preparations for Eid.

“We would like to thank our very generous sponsors who made the event a success. We will be formally acknowledging their contribution this week. “Suffice to say that it has been over 25 years as I played in it back in 1993 and the competition still continues till date.”

Meanwhile, The Fiji Times Ltd team was crowned the winners. Members received prizes such as vouchers for accommodation from Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa. The team consisted of Kevin Mumbles, Fenton Lutunatabua, Jagat Ram and James Pridgeon.
