THE Rewa football team is coached by senior player Lorima Dau for the final of the Vodafone Fiji FACT on Sunday. This is after head coach Marika Rodu injured his leg while playing Futsal on Monday.
This was confirmed by team manager Vikash Prasad.
“We will not have the services of Marika Rodu for Rewa against Labasa in the final of the Fiji FACT,” Prasad said.
“Lorima has been given the responsibility to coach the team in the final. “It is a big setback for us not to have Rodu in the team, but we have full faith in Lorima to lead the players. He had been with Rewa for long and he knows the philosophy and dynamics of Rewa. “He had been a player and had been assisting Rodu, so it would not be a difficult transition for him.”
Rewa defeated Lautoka 1-0 in the semi-final last weekend at Churchill Park in Lautoka. Rewa goalkeeper Manasa Waqavou had been praised for his fine performance in the tournament.
“Labasa is a very good team with Anand Sami coaching them. “Labasa defeated us in the last group matches, but the final is going to be a very different story,” Prasad said.
“We have a mixture of young and experienced players in the team.
“Manasa has been performing well and he had stepped up. We believe in him and that is why we promoted him to be our first choice goalkeeper.”
The final kicks off at 2pm on Sunday at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
