CHAMPION Ratu Kadavulevu School wants to continue its winning culture in the 2018 Powerade Fiji Secondary Schools Championship after claiming all the grades last year.

RKS vice-principal and sports co-ordinator Walesi Soqoiwasa said the teams in the competition had done their best to topple RKS in the zonal competitions.

“We have noticed the teams mission are to beat RKS in this year’s competition as the zonal competition have been playing at a very high level. The school, from the beginning, has set the target to defend all the titles in all the grades this year,” he said.

“All teams are going well as coaches are working hard with the under-17 grade to get them better before the quarter-finals.

“We have retained 70 per cent of the players who competed for RKS in the Sanix World Youth competition title in Japan in May this year.

“However, there are also some other new students from other schools who have made it to the RKS under-18 squad.”

Soqoiwasa said the school itself had its own tradition and it had been a sports oriented school. “We have been winning schools competitions before,” Soqoiwasa said.

“The winning culture is there. We won the Coca-Cola Games after 21 years and then we won all the titles in the national secondary schools rugby competition last year.

“We need the fans to come and support the teams.” RKS starts its title defence mission at the ANZ Stadium in Suva tomorrow.
