FIIJ’S bilateral relations with Nauru, particularly on the concept of ‘people to people’ exchanges through police cooperation, have been further strengthened through music.

Two retired Fiji Police band personnel Retired Supt Sakiusa Tikotani and Retired Sgt Ciri Delana are engaged with the Nauru Police Force to establish the Nauru Police Brass Band.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said Mr Tikotani and Mr Delana have a wealth of experience in music, and they had tremendously established the Nauru Police Band in the short time they had been in Nauru since May this year.

She said that had also taken police cooperation to another dimension and was consistent with Fiji Police initiatives under the MoU on Police cooperation with Nauru.

“The Fiji Police under its community policing initiatives have over the years captured music and sports as key pillars for its community policing initiative,” Ms Naisoro said.

“This is a new dimension in police cooperation with some bilateral partners expressing interest in people to people exchange through sports as well.”
