ONE hundred and fifteen media practitioners converge on Tongatapu, the main island of the Kingdom of Tonga today ahead of their regional meeting.
The Pacific Media Summit organised every two years by the Pacific Islands News Association is this year hosted by the Tongan government.
Three pre-summit seminars, one on gender-based violence, another on agriculture and the last on the inauguration of the Pacific Environment Journalists Association will precede the three-day meeting proper that begins Wednesday.
PMS 2018 will be opened by Tongan Prime Minister Akilisi Pohiva on Tuesday evening at the Oholei Beach Resort.
Welcoming the participants into the country today, the president of the Free Wesleyan Church of a Tonga, Reverend Dr Ahio, wished regional media a good meeting and told them they had arrived at a special time on the Kingdom’s spiritual calendar.
Today is White Sunday in Tonga when children take over a substantial part of church services nationwide.
