Update: 3:09PM DELEGATES from Pacific Island Countries are in Nadi for the three-day Regional Pacific Shock Responsive Social Protection Conference.
While opening the meeting this morning, acting Minister for Women Jone Usamate said Fiji was proud to host the inaugural shock responsive conference for the Pacific.
“We strongly believe it is an important step in fostering strategic regional coordination and technical practitioners networks that will undoubtedly help us here in the Pacific advance our social protection mechanisms,” he said.
Mr Usamate said this would make the mechanisms shock-responsive and fit for purpose during national disasters.
The conference ends on Thursday.
