RATU Epenisa Cakobau has reminded the people of Bau to continue to pray for their vanua and its people.

The Bau high chief made the reminder while speaking during a thanksgiving service at the Ratu Cakobau Church on the island earlier today.

The thanksgiving service, which was scheduled as part of the installation of Ratu Epenisa as the new Vunivalu of Bau last Friday, was also attended by those who had travelled to the island for the occasion.

The scheduled installation ceremony was however stopped by the Native Lands Commission last Thursday over an “unresolved internal conflict” between members of the chiefly Tui Kaba clan.

Ratu Epenisa and others were released by police yesterday after being taken from the island on Friday morning for questioning relating to information about the continuation of the installation ceremony.

Prior to his arrival to the village yesterday, Ratu Epenisa was traditionally greeted by the villagers on the island.
