Rape trial for man, 69, today

THE trial of a 69-year-old man who allegedly raped his granddaughter in 2015 is set to commence at the High Court in Suva this morning.

While addressing the three assessors of the trial yesterday, State Prosecutor Susan Serukai said the alleged rape victim was dependent on the people around her for care and protection, but that trust was breached.

Ms Serukai said the trust was breached in a horrible manner by her own grandfather.
