Raiwaqa parishioners receive Sacrament of Confirmation

THE St Pius X Parish in Raiwaqa today held the Sacrament of Confirmation for 40 young men and women by the Head of the Catholic Church in Fiji, Archbishop Peter Loy Chong.

Archbishop Loy Chong congratulated the confirmed candidates and said there confirmation was unique because it was inclusive.

Parish Priest Father John McEnvoy said this marked a new beginning of the church as they had concluded their celebrations for their 50th year anniversary yesterday.

“Yesterday (Saturday) we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the church , and today (yesterday) the very first day of the next 50 years you are part of it in a very big and special way,” Fr McEnvoy said.

The church was established in 1968 and to date has 3,000 parishioners.
