Rabuka shares party vision

SOCIAL Democratic Liberal Party leader Sitiveni Rabuka told party supporters in Sydney, Australia, his vision for Fiji was to build a secure, peaceful, prosperous and stable nation through inclusive leadership and governance.

Mr Rabuka said governance that would foster improved livelihoods, sustainable economic and social development, and protection of Fiji’s environment and reduced vulnerability to the adverse impacts of climate change.

A statement issued by the party yesterday said this was in line with the party’s slogan for this year’s election, which was “Leadership that Listens”.

Mr Rabuka’s vision is based on his strong Christian belief in unity through multiracialism, the statement read.

Meanwhile, party general secretary Adi Litia Qionibaravi said the SODELPA manifesto committee was still working on the draft, in consultation with the party’s key stakeholders.

“On the amendment to the 2013 Constitution, the people of Fiji will decide through consultation and dialogue, and a referendum as required under the 2013 Constitution,” Adi Litia said.

“Let the people decide. Any change to the Constitution will be decided by the power of the people. As mentioned earlier, the manifesto committee is still finalising the document, therefore, it is important not to anticipate or pre-empt the work of the committee.”

Mr Rabuka and SODELPA candidate Lynda Tabuya are in Australia meeting party supporters.
