Qelekuro crossing improves commute

HUNDREDS of villagers along the coast of Tailevu can now commute safely after the restoration and upgrading of the Qelekuro Crossing.

Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) General Manager Network Operations and Maintenance Aram Goes said in a statement issued today that the crossing had suffered some major superstructure failure in the past and needed urgent repairs.

“One of the major causes of these damages on the deck was the impacts of haulage operations from the nearby local Quarry, which has been recently established at Dawasamu,” Mr Goes said.

He said the crossing is a bus route and the repairs were essential to help alleviate road user safety.

Qelekuro Crossing is located along the Dawasamu Road in Tailevu.
