ABOUT 30 young men and women – members of the Providing Young Generation Movement In Every Situation (PYGMIES) youth group – began their 276km walkathon from Lautoka to Suva this morning.

The group, which set off from Shirley Park, hopes to raise $10,000 for the Western Disabled People’s Association.

Last year, PYGMIES raised $6000 for the association.

Association president Harry Kissun said the funds were used to purchase medical consumables, including diapers and mobility equipment for disabled persons across the Western Division.

PYGMIES will take to the streets of the Sugar City and its surrounds today before heading to Nadi tomorrow.
