PRESIDENT Jioji Konrote will serve as the country’s head of state for another term.

His three-year extension came into effect yesterday following a unanimous vote by Parliament.

Mr Konrote’s reappointment did not go well for the Social Democratic Liberal Party members in Parliament yesterday when they walked out of the House after Opposition MP, Semesa Karavaki raised a Point of Order expressing their concerns about the legality of the appointment of the President.

However, the National Federation Party’s three MPs in the Opposition did not follow their Opposition colleagues.

Party leader Professor Biman Prasad said they supported Mr Konrote’s reappointment.
