BOWLS Fiji national singles men’s and women’s champion, Surendra Prasad and Litia Tikoisuva are preparing for next month’s World Singles Champion of Champions tournament at the Warella Bowling Club green in Sydney, Australia.

The duo won the national singles tournament last year at the Suva Bowling Club green.

“Being the national singles champion is a great achievement for me,” Prasad said.

“I always try to play my best game in every tournament and I am proud to represent my country.”

The world singles championship will feature some of the best lawn bowling.

Prasad said the world championship would be tough because there would be many other professional players from other countries competing.

“We in Fiji are not really professionals at the sport compared to other countries. There is a lot of hard work needed.

“I have been practising with some of the senior players here. I am working very hard towards this important event.”

Tikoisuva said she used the National Open Bowling Pairs tournament on the weekend as a buildup to the world event.

“I am practising from Monday to Thursday to try and see where my weaknesses are and try and perfect them,” said Tikoisuva.
