MARIST Brother’s High School Under-18 side had to rely on the rule books to secure a spot in the semi-final of the Fiji Secondary School Schools Powerade Super Deans Rugby Championship.

The young men from flagstaff were held to a 5-all draw by Queen Victoria School in the second quarter-final.

Lock Angelo Smith scored early to put MBHS 5-nil ahead but QVS winger Luke Nabulagi cancelled the lead late in the second spell.

Both teams tried hard but could not get the winner in extra-time.

The match was rewarded to MBHS for scoring the first try in the match.

In an earlier quarter-final, Cuvu College beat Lelean Memorial School 20-14.

In other quarter-final results:

– Nasinu Secondary beat Nasikawa 12-nil in the Under 19 grade;
– John Wesley College thumped Ratu Navula 29-nil in the Under 17 grade; and
– Suva Grammar edged LMS 15-11 in the Under 16 grade.
