Police wait for clearance

THE police are awaiting the medical clearance of a 35-year-old man, before they question him in connection with the alleged murder of a teenager.
Fourteen-year-old Ashna Devi’s body was discovered in a vacant house at Viria in Naitasiri with severe cuts on her neck.
The suspect was also discovered with what is believed to be self-induced injuries.
Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the suspect was still admitted in hospital and he would be questioned once the all clear was given by the doctors.
Ashna, a third form student, had been reported missing from home on September 25.
A police search led to the discovery of her body and the suspect in Viria.
Ms Naisoro confirmed that the 35-year-old man was injured and there was a large possibility it was self-inflicted.
He was reported missing from home on Wednesday, a day earlier.
Ms Naisoro said the police received information on Friday that the two were seen occupying a vacant house.
According to the autopsy, Ashna died as a result of blood loss caused by injuries to her neck.
Her funeral was held last Thursday.
