THE Fiji Police Force says it has enough manpower in terms of security for the upcoming general election, says Acting Commissioner of Police (ACP), Rusiate Tudravu.

ACP Tudravu said their officers had undergone elections training and were liaising closely with the Supervisor of Elections on what the next phases were.

He said the officers were using the elections handbook training manual designed specifically for them.

“When they go for training, that is what they are using, the handbook that was prepared solely for our police officers,” he said.

He said the handbook entailed the specific roles of the officers during the election period.

“Also with regards to the roles of other election officials to be known by them, the offences stipulated, the Electoral Act and how they conduct themselves during the elections; these are the things that are already taught in the handbook training manual,” he said.

ACP Tudravu said all the preparation for the election were in line.

“The awareness part on our side, it’s already done. Our preparation is already there, but our cue is from the Fijian Elections Office on what they require of us,” he said.
