THE driver of a bus involved in an accident in Lautoka on Saturday has been interviewed by police.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said last Saturday, while travelling down Vaivai Rd, the bus the driver was driving hit three vehicles before coming to rest on its side about 11.30am.

“The 37-year-old driver, while driving the bus down Vaivai Rd, struck another vehicle which was being driven by a 24-year-old dairy farmer from New Zealand,” she said.

“This vehicle veered on to the opposite side of the road and hit another vehicle driven by a 55-year-old business professional.

“The bus then travelled off the road and ended up in a drain.”

Ms Naisoro said two passengers were admitted at the Accident and Emergency ward at the Lautoka Hospital — a 24-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man.

“Eleven other passengers from the three vehicles were treated and sent home.

“All vehicles sustained damage.

“The bus driver was cautioned, interviewed and released.”
