Police continuing investigations into Grace Road operations

Listen to this article:

POLICE are still carrying out investigations into the operations of Grace Road Group and its co-founder, the Rev Shin Ok-Joo.

Ms Shin was arrested with three other church leaders when they arrived at Seoul’s Incheon International Airport earlier this month.

The arrests were linked to the alleged assault and confinement of 400 church followers in Fiji.

Police have started preliminary investigations into the founder of Grace Road Group.

Earlier, Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said they had been contacted by South Korean authorities and had begun preliminary investigations while awaiting official notification.

In a statement issued last weekend, the Christian group said they had come to make Fiji the light of the world through the word of God.

The group also denied allegations levelled against their leader, saying they were enraged by all the lies.

Meanwhile, the case to stop six South Korean nationals from being sent back to Korea has been discontinued.

The six — Jung Young Kim, Beomseop Shin, Sung Jin Lee, Byeongjoon Lee, Chul Na and Jin Sook Yoon — were detained by police earlier last week and later released.
