IN a bid to evade the long arms of the law, drivers in the country have formed a Viber group to warn each other of the presence of Police and or Land Transport Authority traffic operations.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said even though it was the right of the drivers to form their own chat groups, there was concern on how such groups would nurture drivers respecting road rules only in the presence of officers.

Ms Naisoro said the purpose of police operations were to ensure that road rules were adhered to.

“The formulation of such groups will not deter Police from carrying out their roles in ensuring that roads are safe for pedestrians and drivers,” she said.
