THE Fiji Police Force has apologised for the delay that left members of the disabled community, students and other organisations standing at the Y-corner in Labasa for an hour before their march began yesterday.
The march to mark the National Mid-Year Awareness Disability Day in Labasa began at 10am as they were waiting for the police to arrive to clear the streets for the march which was to commence at 9am.
In a statement, police apologised for the inconvenience caused, which was a result of miscommunication from their end.
This, however, did not deter the enthusiastic group who gathered in support of their friends and family members who have disabilities.
A member of the people with special disabilities community in Labasa, Jone Nasikasila said he was excited to be at the event and overwhelmed with the support they received from members of the community.
