AN amnesty period is still in place to allow those who may have made discoveries of bars of cocaine to turn the illicit drugs over to Police.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the amnesty period was from August 6 to August 20, 2018.

“Members of the public are requested to call on the toll free number 3318 529 if they have any information or may have made similar discoveries of cocaine,” Ms Naisoro said.

She said to date, 89 bars had been found.

“No one has been arrested or found to be trying to sell off the drugs based on information received earlier.”

Any person who without lawful authority acquires, supplies, possesses, manufactures, cultivates, uses or administers an illicit drug; or engages in any dealings with any other person for the transfer, transport, supply, use, manufacture, offer, sale, import or export of an illicit drug, commits an offence and will be prosecuted under the Illicit Drugs Control Act 2004.
