PNG region registers 6.6 magnitude quake

Update: 12:38PM A STRONG 6.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Papua New Guinea region last night, occurring at a depth of 10km.
The Seismology Unit of the Mineral Resources department in Suva said the earthquake was located 141km East from Kimbe, PNG; 1042km Northwest from Honiara, Solomon Islands; and 3252km Northwest from Suva.
The department has cleared any immediate threat to the Fiji region.
Last month, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit the Pacific island nation and reportedly killed at least 125 people, and injured dozens.
