PM designates Cabinet portfolios

FIFTEEN ministers and five assistant ministers were sworn in at Government House by President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau yesterday.

They are led by Prime Minister Rear Admiral (Ret) Voreqe Bainimarama who is also the Minister for iTaukei Affairs and Sugar.

Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is now the Minister for Finance, Public Enterprises, Public Service, Trade and Tourism and will be assisted by Lorna Eden.

West-based lawyer Faiyaz Koya is the new Attorney-General and Minister for Justice while Colonel Pio Tikoduadua is the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport. Praveen Kumar is the Minister for Local Government, Housing and Environment.

Jone Usamate is now the Minister for Health and will be assisted by Veena Kumar Bhatnagar,

Dr Mahendra Reddy is the Minister for Education, Culture and Heritage and Vijay Nath his assistant.

Rosy Sofia Akbar is Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation. Mereseini Vuniwaqa is Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources and Osea Naiqamu is the Minister for Fisheries and Forests.

Inia Seruiratu is the Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management and Joeli Cawaki is Assistant Minister for the same portfolios.

Ratu Inoke Kubuabola is the Minister for Foreign Affairs while Timoci Natuva is Minister for Immigration, National Security and Defence.

Jioji Konrote is the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations while Laisenia Bale Tuitubou is the Minister for Youth and Sports. Paralympic gold medallist Iliesa Delana is the Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports.
