PLANS to build a secondary school beside Lobau Village in Namosi are in progress. This was revealed by the Roko Tui Namosi Rupeni Kunaturaga during the Namosi Provincial Council meeting in Navua yesterday.

“The Ratu Simione Matanitobua College will be built near Lobau Village to cater for the secondary school students in the district of Veivatuloa as well as Navua,” Mr Kunaturaga said.

The Namosi Provincial Council has also agreed to establish a care committee to cater for the rehabilitation of inmates from the province after their release.

While speaking on the issue at the meeting, Fiji Corrections Service director rehabilitation Waisale Sokovakalou said a care committee would look after the welfare of an inmate when he or she was released from prison.

“We have started this program in some of the provinces in the country. It is called the community awareness for rehabilitation,” he said.

“The thing is that we need this to continue in our respective villages or provinces and that is why we need a care committee.”

Mr Sokovakalou said it was pivotal to know that these inmates were also part of the villages, province and the community we lived in.
