SUVA’S Peninsula International Hotel is now more than just a typical city accommodation with the latest addition of its new exquisite lounge bar.
The hotel, one the most iconic and oldest in the Capital City, has opened its new Baka Lounge Bar adding another exciting feather to its cap and more hype to its guests’ experience.
The addition of the modern facility is part of the hotel’s ongoing refurbishment works upgrading its interior and exterior facilities, including diversifying its accommodation options.
The Baka Lounge Bar is now located on the hotel’s ground floor, a shift from its previous location on the second floor.
If you commute daily to the central business district area, you won’t miss the new lounge bar situated on the corner of McGregor Rd and Pender St in Suva.
According to the hotel’s general manager, Novitesh Chand, the shifting of its Baka Lounge Bar to the ground floor was for the convenience of its guests and patrons.
The interior design and look of the Baka Lounge Bar has a more executive and professional twist, appealing mostly to the hotel’s high corporate and business occupancy.
With the growing MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing, and exhibition) sector in Suva, the hotel has dawned as a popular choice for corporate and business executives, including a niche family and tourist market.
But this doesn’t limit it to other guests and locals alike who would like to have a pre-drink before hitting the night spots with its city fringe location and opening hours from 11am to 11pm.
“The reason for us moving the bar down was to make it more convenient for our guests and for our patrons to enjoy the nice atmosphere we have got now,” he told this newspaper.
“Basically our Baka Lounge Bar is something new in Suva and we are trying to promote this as a new exciting experience for the capital city.”
Mr Chand said the construction of the new lounge bar took more than seven months with an estimated cost of about $600,000.
The fully air-conditioned bar serves local alcoholic beverages including spirits, cocktails, mocktails and a diverse list of wines with its Happy Hour from 4pm to 7pm daily.
And apart from the new lounge bar, the hotel has also added a new convenience store just adjacent to the lounge bar entrance offering confectionaries and necessities for its guests.
“We have done a lot of upgrading to our facilities within the Suva Peninsula Hotel and we recently refurbished our lobby and probably our Hillcrest Restaurant and we opened a new convenience store,” Mr Chand said.
Apart from its various room renovations, the hotel is also undergoing an exterior facelift most evident from the property’s exterior brown and orange colour to a more commanding purple.
The Peninsula has also upgraded its conferencing facilities for smaller seminars, workshops, meetings or private family gatherings, catering for up to 50-60 people.
