OPPOSITION Whip Salote Radrodro has raised her concern on the pay gap between permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries, directors and other civil servants in the country.

Ms Radrodro while speaking in response to the 2018/2019 Budget in Parliament today said the pay gap was simply unfair and was a ‘pay discrimination’.

“The appointment of the permanent secretaries had seen a string of expatriates suddenly resigning and leaving Fiji of the sudden sacking of others,” she said

Ms Radrodro said at the moment, there were three expatriate permanent secretaries – two of who are holding two portfolios each.

“PS for Civil Service is also PS for Forestry and PS for Education, Heritage Arts and Library Services and National Archives of Fiji is also PS for Youth and Sports.

She said there were qualified Fijian people to hold these PS positions.
