FIJI Football Association president Rajesh Patel has given his best wishes to the Vodafone Fiji Under-16 side that takes on hosts Solomon Islands in the semi-final of the OFC U16 Championship tomorrow.

Patel says while it will be an uphill battle for our young players, anything is possible in the sport of football.

“Solomon Islands is the host nation and will be a tough opponent but that takes away nothing from our boys. This is their chance to prove what they are made of. All those months of hard work in training, the sacrifices they and their families have made, this is their chance to stamp their mark,” Patel said.

Fiji defeated Samoa 3-2, lost to Tahiti 0-3 and then edged New Caledonia 1-nil to qualify to the semi-final.

A win in the semi-final will ensure a spot in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup next year.

Fiji plays the Solomon Islands at 11am tomorrow.

The second semi-final between Tahiti and New Zealand starts at 4pm.
