Party plans poll bid start

THE Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) expects to start its election campaign in April.

Party leader Sitiveni Rabuka said they were progressing well into preparations for the upcoming polls.

“There is a function in April in Nausori. There is no indication yet of the date,” he said.

“We are working on that and that will probably be the main launch of our election preparation.”

The party recently announced its first batch of candidates for the 2018 General Elections after signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) of co-operation with the now suspended People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The party is now in the process of briefing its candidates and conducting awareness programs for its party representatives who will be deployed out to polling stations on polling day, Mr Rabuka said.

The next batch of candidates is expected to be released soon.
