GOVERNMENT through the Land Transport Authority has increased its awareness program on road safety both through mass media and community awareness.
Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport, Parveen Kumar highlighted this while responding to an oral question directed to him by Government Member of Parliament Jilila Kumar who asked as to how the Ministry is addressing road fatalities.
Mr Kumar said one of the programs is through print media which involves advertisement in the newspaper three times a week.
He said some of the public awareness programs undertaken by LTA are home visitation, driver intervention, schools and community outreach programs, billboards and road safety messages on bus-stops.
He also said that LTA has increased manpower capacity in the enforcement by 20 percent since 2016.
