THE review of the national minimum wage has already commenced, the acting prime minister and the minister responsible for economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum told Parliament this morning.

Speaking in response to a question from Opposition MP, Professor Biman Prasad, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said the review did not need the views of “people who have prejudged the matter”.

“Obviously any review has to be completely independent. Of course anybody can appear before the review committee and make a submission,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

The national minimum wage is currently at $2.68 an hour.
