THE 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championship events started this morning at the Damodar City Aquatic Centre this morning.

The four-day competition is being held outside of the USA, Canada, Australia and Japan for the first time.

The finals for the first day of competition will be held this afternoon.

Swimming teams from the US, China, Australia, New Zealand, Japan are some of the countries participating.

The championship was officially opened by Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Iliesa Delana last night.

Delana commended Fiji Swimming Association saying having an international competition of this calibre in Fiji following the successful hosting of the 2016 Oceania Swimming Championship aligned well with the Fiji Swimming Association strategic plan of hosting an international competition every two years, supported by the Government.

The competition ends on Sunday.
