Update: 3:19PM CHILDREN across Fijian churches today took the centre stage of their churches to lead and participate in the main worship service as Christians the world over celebrate Palm Sunday.

The famous church hymn Hosanna in the highest and the Bible scripture Jesus is King echoed in churches as children waved their palm branches in church halls together with their smiles as they chorussed ‘Hosanna’.

Nadera Methodist Church Sunday school teacher Kereni Kete said the theme for today’s church service was focused on evangelising the young generation and the world.

“This message is very applicable to all of us because children are our greatest treasure and today we witness the gifts and talents that our children have,” Mrs Kete said.

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of the Holy Week and it commemorates the triumphant arrival of Christ into Jerusalem, days before he was crucified.
