THE Adi Senikau Pageant is an important platform for the transgender community in Fiji, says pageant co-ordinator Sulique Waqa.

Waqa said the pageant was a platform for transgender contestants to talk about their issues and celebrate gender diversity.

Waqa said a huge crowd was expected at the show at the Bank of Baroda tent at Valelevu grounds in Nasinu tomorrow.

“This is the only LGBTQI event which is a platform for transgender,” Waqa said.

“This is really a milestone for the transgender community — to be able to keep Adi Senikau Pageant running alongside the Hibiscus Festival.”

The theme for this year’s event is “Out of this world — The search for the next habitable planet” and 12 contestants are vying for the Adi Senikau Pageant title.

Ticket price for the pageant is $25 per person and available at the entrance of the tent. The show starts at 7pm tomorrow.
