Padayachi out to defend masters’ bowls single title in Nadi

FORMER masters’ bowls singles champion Som Padayachi will defend the Nadi Sport Club singles championship which starts this morning.
Padayachi is a dual international having represented the country both in bowls and snooker.
He will face stiff competition from the likes of Curtis Mar, Rajnesh Prasad, Keegan Jaduram, Shorab Khan, Sitiveni Tikoisuva, Munesh Kumar and Sanjit Sen.
Club bowls director Bobby Prasad said they expected more than 16 players to participate in the two-day event.
Bobby said the greens were in top condition.
“Som is a talented player who reads the greens very well,” he said.
“He is steady with his approach and will be tough to beat. The club is encouraging more people to take up the sport.”
Registration for the competition will start at 9.30am and the competition will commence at 10am.
