Outrigger reigns in Nadroga netball

OUTRIGGER scooped the Nadroga Men’s and Mixed Netball Association knockout tournament in Sigatoka yesterday.

The team defeated Salad Bowl 20-18 in the open men final at Lawaqa Park.

In a closely contested match, both teams were tied at 16-all at fulltime before Outrigger took the lead in the extra time play to win the tournament.

Pim Pamela won the mixed grade final beating Salad Bowl 13-11.

Association secretary Judy Kumar said eight teams took part in the day-long tournament.

They include ACSOG, Outrigger, Salad Bowl and Pim Pamela which fielded a team each in the open men and mixed categories.

“It was also exciting to see umpires from Fiji Umpires Netball Association and Mr (Gabrieli) Qoro did a marvellous job at our opening,” Kumar said.

The association will run eight weeks of club games and also select four teams for the upcoming championship in Nadi.

“Nadroga has developed many young talents and now we are really urging people to come and support our games every week,” Kumar added.
