ODPP releases rape, sexual offences statistics for May

A TWENTY-SEVEN year-old man was charged for the alleged rape of his two–year-old daughter, the youngest victim in a rape and sexual offence last month.

This was revealed in the Rape and Sexual Offences Statistics for May 2018 released by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) today.

According to the statistics, a total of 18 people were charged with a total of 29 counts which accounted for separate incidents in May.

The offences were rape, attempted rape, defilement and sexual assault.

There were 18 victims of the 29 separate incidents of whom 13 victims were under the age of 18 years.

The statistics further revealed that there were two male victims and 16 female victims while all 18 accused persons were male.
It also added that there were seven incidents where the victims and the accused were related to one another.
