THE New Zealand Government will provide technical assistance to the Fiji Police Force in the fight against transnational organised crimes, if the need arises.

New Zealand High Commissioner Jonathan Curr said talks were in progress between the two forces on the best way forward to resolve issues of common interest.

“We are looking at a program that will support Fiji’s police force and we have whole ranges of initiatives at the moment that are underway, this is subject of discussion between the two police forces.

“There are many issues that both forces face especially transnational organised crimes, this is one area that we can co-operate with Fiji on ad this is where we can provide additional support,” he added.
