NZ elections support to be technical

NEW ZEALANDS High Commissioner to Fiji, Jonathan Curr says the NZ government has been providing support to the Fijian Elections Office(FEO) since the 2014 general elections.

Mr Curr said the focus of support by the NZ government to date had been on the technical aspects.

“Aspects on how to run an election here and issues ranging to the back office systems that are required to staff training’s and whole technicality processes that need to be run efficiently for an election to be successful , transparent and fair,” Mr Curr said.

“We are also providing support for the deputy supervisor of election position. NZ and other countries have providing some technical assistance to FEO as it prepares for the elections this year.”

He said it was very important for the NZ government to support a fellow democratic country like Fiji in the region.
