No water in Western towns
7 April, 2018, 10:09 am
Update: 10:09AM BA, Tavua and Rakiraki residents have been without water since 11pm last night.
The Water Authority of Fiji said this was due to adverse weather
conditions in the Western Division. Rising water levels in rivers and raw water
intakes in Tavua, Ba and Rakiraki resulted in WAF taking proactive measures by
switching off its pumping stations in those areas.
“Therefore, members of the public in Tavua, Ba, and Rakiraki will face
water disruptions from tonight until water levels subside,” said WAF in a
statement issued 10.56pm last night.
Customers are encouraged to contact WAF’s National Call Centre should
they require water carting services on 3346777 or 5777.
However, water carting services could be disrupted in areas affected by
flooding and inaccessible roads.
