NO formal submission has been received by the Independent Bus Fare Review Committee from the Fiji Bus Operators Association (FBOA) on the increase in bus fares, says the committee chairman Joel Abraham.

Mr Abraham said no submission was received after the recent price change in fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

“The changes in fuel and LPG prices are mainly determined by the movement in the international prices for petroleum and LPG products. The changes in prices are also impacted by unfavourable international freight rates and the strengthening of the US dollar.

“Given that Fiji is directly affected by the world market prices for both refined oils and LPG, any changes to the world market prices are reflected in Fuel and LPG prices in Fiji. The prices are reviewed by FCCC every quarter.”

He said, however, fuel was not the only factor considered when determining bus fares.
