Update: 6:44PM THE National Fire Authority (NFA) said it saved the iTaukei Land Trust Board (iTLTB) building in Suva from being destroyed by fire.

In a statement received this hour, NFA chief fire officer Qionilau Moceitai said it was alerted to the fire at 6.50pm by the TLTB’s monitoring system, which connected the organisation to the NFA’s Suva Control Centre.

“The Suva team was immediately dispatched to the site and upon arriving at 6.54pm, the fire team discovered that a fire had developed in the cashier’s room, which was located on level one of the TLTB building,” Mr Moceitai said.

“The fire crew successfully confined the fire to the cashier’s office area on level one, stopping its spread to the other parts of the TLTB building.”

Meanwhile, TLTB staff have been advised to return to work tomorrow.
