MEMBERS of the public in Savusavu on Vanua Levu should expect improved fire services now with the official opening of the new National Fire Authority Station.

Officiating at the opening of the new station, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said Government required NFA to move into growth centres such as Navua, Korovou, Nabouwalu, Keiyasi, Vunidawa and Seaqaqa, adding it was pleasing to see much progress being made by the authority into those areas.

“My Government will continue to provide good working facilities for our people, resulting in a happy and productive workforce,” Mr Bainimarama said.

“I must emphasise that fire safety is everyone’s responsibility. To our firefighters who will be working from this new station, serve the communities of Savusavu to the best of your ability and look after your new fire station.

“You will be relied upon to provide life-saving services, a responsibility that should be respected at all times.”
