THE contestants of this year’s Bula Festival took part in their first community project by cleaning Wailoaloa Beach in Nadi yesterday morning.

Nadi Bula Festival Trust president Ravin Nadan said this was something contestants engaged in each year.

“Every year, we have a similar task and take the girls out for community service and this year, we chose to start by cleaning up Wailoaloa Beach because the area was in a very pathetic condition,” he said.

“We were assisted by staff from the Nadi Town Council and members of the Nadi Bula Festival Trust. The contestants enjoyed this community service and they are eager to do more.”

He said similar community projects would be conducted in the days to come.

The Bula Festival will be held from July 14 to 21 and is sponsored by Digicel.
