New ferry makes first local voyage

Update: 5:30PM LOMAIVITI Princess V will make its first local voyage this evening.

The new vessel, formerly known as Princess Nanaimo or Queen Nanaimo, arrived in the country two weeks ago after Goundar Shipping Ltd purchased it from Canada.

Company director and owner George Goundar said the vessel would leave the Suva jetty for Savusavu this evening.

“This vessel can carry 1500 passengers and will take its first Fiji voyage,” he said.

“Our Christmas season has been busy but we have the capacity to cater for a huge number of passengers with this new inclusion of Lomaiviti Princess V.”
